Biography:

Sydney’s parents first met at the Legacy Shorin Ryu Western University Karate Club. After growing up in the dojo and training in other athletic arts like dance and gymnastics she started her Karate training at eight years old. Sydney received her 1st degree black belt (Shodan) in 2014 and today she holds the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt). Sydney loves teaching beginners - especially kids - and competing with the tournament team. In addition to teaching Karate, she provides a ‘stretch and strengthening class for the dojo. Sydney views Legacy Martial Arts and Fitness as her ‘Karate family’ and feels just as at home on the mats as she does on her couch. She believes that passing Karate onto future generations is one of the greatest gifts she could give to the world.
